After being let go from two previous jobs, I decided to address some of the issues that were affecting my ability to stay employed. The Spectrum Advantage program was very helpful. It addressed common challenges with ASD and taught me to become more mindful. Spectrum Advantage taught skills that are important in the workplace. For the first four weeks, we were taught important social skills to be successful in the workplace. Then after that, we received coaching and set goals we wanted to work on. The instructors gave us unlimited help on mock interviews, cover letter writing, resume writing and helped out with the overall navigation of finding a job. By the end of the course almost everyone had found jobs. Another thing that I benefited from was meeting other people with ASD with similar backgrounds. It made me understand myself better and make friends in the process! I found a job at Calgary Board of Education as an Educational Assistant and am very thankful for the ways that Spectrum Advantage helped to facilitate my success.
